International transportation

Measurement conversion

There are two ideas of weight in international transportation: Actual weight and dimensional weight.

Actual weight
Actual weight of the cargo
Dimensional weight
Weight calculated based on the volume of the cargo

Because cargo weighing 1 ton can vary in size, causing it to occupy a different amount of space, the transportation fee cannot be determined only based on the actual weight of the cargo.
The transportation fee is calculated by comparing the actual weight of the cargo with the dimensional weight calculated by converting the cargo volume into weight and using the greater value.
Two different conversion rules are needed because of the difference in calculation methods for international marine transport and air transport.
The fee calculation is based on dimensional weight, which is stated in documents as freight ton (FT) for marine transport or chargeable weight (CW) for air transport.

Dimensional weight for ocean freight

Input the cargo's length, width, height, and number of parcels. Then, the dimensional weight will be calculated and indicated.
Length, width, and height are indicated in meters.(e.g., Input "0.1" for 10 cm.)

Conversion expression for marine transport
Length (m) × width (m) × height (m) × number × 1000

Dimensional weight for air fare

Input the cargo's length, width, height, and number of parcels. Then, the dimensional weight will be calculated and indicated.
Length, width, and height are indicated in centimeters.(e.g., Enter "100" for 1 m.)

Conversion expression for air transportation
Length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) × number ÷ 6000
